Psychologist Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, the Psychologist will know or be able to do the following as a result of having taken this course...

-Expain five ways that an opioid overdose can occur.
-Describe four signs of an overdose.
-Identify two approaches therapists could use with a patient/client who expresses fears about opioid tapering.
-Explain a risk for first responders just entering the room where someone has fentanyl overdosed.
-Describe a type of pain that opioids are effective in treating.
-Identify a drug class that presents an extremely high risk for adverse drug reaction involving overdose and/or death during the induction process.
-Explain a treatment that pregnant women who are physically dependent on opioids should receive.

The instructional level of this course is introductory, intermediate, or advanced depending on the learners clinical area of expertise.
