Psychologist Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, the Psychologist will know or be able to do the following as a result of having taken this course...

-Explain an importance of the client's cultural background in treatment.
-Identify one way to understand lesbian and gay family relationships.
-Describe four ways to ethically ask questions about a client's race, ethnicity and sexuality.
-Identify two stages of parents' adjustment upon discovery that their child has special needs.
-Discuss one reason why siblings of children with mental health problems feel resentment.
-Explain a reason why parents feel grief toward a child with special needs.
-Discuss how narrative intervention can be utilized with diverse families.

The instructional level of this course is introductory, intermediate, or advanced depending on the learners clinical area of expertise.
